Sempu Island – The Hidden Paradise

Sempu Island is a small, pristine island on the southern coast of Java, directly opposite Sendang Biru Beach in South Malang, within the Sumbermanjing Tambakrejo district of Malang Regency.

The island is a protected nature reserve, covered by lush forests and home to diverse flora and fauna. Visitors must obtain a permit from the local management before entering, ensuring the preservation of this delicate ecosystem.

The highlight of Sempu Island is Segoro Anakan Lagoon, a breathtaking natural pool hidden deep inside the island. The lagoon connects to the open sea through a cave that channels seawater into its turquoise basin. Since the island has no fresh water sources, travelers should prepare supplies at Sendang Biru before crossing. Trekking to Segoro Anakan offers stunning scenery, swimming opportunities, and the unforgettable feeling of discovering a hidden paradise.

Mount Bromo – Amazing Sunrise of Java

Mount Bromo, part of the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park, is one of Indonesia’s most famous volcanoes. The park spans four regencies: Probolinggo, Malang, Pasuruan, and Lumajang.

Most visitors reach Bromo via Cemoro Lawang village in Probolinggo. From there, a Jeep Hardtop (4WD) takes you to Penanjakan View Point, the best location to witness the legendary Bromo sunrise. The early morning view is unforgettable — the sun rises over the volcanic landscape, with Mount Bromo’s active crater releasing smoke and Mount Semeru towering in the background.

After sunrise, the adventure continues with visits to the Sea of Sand, Mount Batok, the wide caldera, Teletubbies Hill (Savannah), and the sacred Pura Luhur Poten temple, where the Tenggerese people hold traditional ceremonies. On rare occasions, visitors may even spot a rainbow stretching across the caldera, adding to the magic of the experience.
